Wrath of the Lich King

World of Warcraft has now occupied a part of my life for three years.

No, I am not one of those people that plays hours each day, let alone every day.

But I do enjoy the game and am eagerly anticipating the next expansion set titled "Wrath of the Lich King".

Apparantly I am not alone.

There are now over 9,000,000 people around the world who play World of Warcraft.

The fact of the matter is that this game is near-perfect, combining adventurous discovery, epic questing, beautiful art direction, and... well... just plain fun!

I've already capped out a warrior at level 70, have a Priest at 63 and am now playing my Rogue, who is presently a level 49. His name is Emongami (read it backwards) and he resides on the Terenas server, should anyone want to look me up.

Anyhow, Wrath of the Lich King is not due until next November, so there will be a significant wait.

The expansion will open up an entirely new continent, Northrend, with many new distinct zones containing new enemies, cities, quests, loot, dungeons and gear. And who can forget the ability to set new hair styles for your characters? (Ok, I could probably do without this one...)

Blizzard has done an incredible job of dangling the carrot on a stick in front of our collective noses, and we are biting.

It's a guilty pleasure, so while I wait for the expansion I will continue raiding, questing and upgrading my gear with phat loot. ;-)

All in a day's work for an Internet entrepreneur!

    Hey!

    Everyone needs a break sometimes!

I am an Oblivion Girl myself... or any in the series starting wa-a-a-y back with Daggerfall and Arena!

I haven't really played the MMORPG (Right abbrev?) since I don't play well with others. I like to do my own thing.

I haven't found an online game that will let me do that.

However, if I ever do, I will be sure to look you up as I love almost all of the RPG games and it might be fun to be a Troll.

    Have fun!

The new look on the blog is great. Just the right balance of "it's not another dang blog" and "oh, there's stories to read"

    Great job.

Video games are okay. I spend my spare time playing on social networks.. like this fight with Seth Godin (http://Squidoo.com/arguements)

He called me a "Monkey Brain"

Can you send you WOW team over there to beat him up?

    Hey Joel,

Things sure have come along way since the days of the game "Meridian 59". After a few weeks of EverQuest, aka EverCrack, as some called it...I quickly realized I didn't have the self discipline to find a happy medium of game play vs real life... so I pretty much gave up on gaming.

I think the final straw for me was when I had been awake for over a day or 2 on Meridian 59, and I went into the kitchen to finally eat something... and out of the corner of my eye... I thought I saw a Giant Spider like the one in the game I had been playing... and I couldn't get that silly music that was playing in the game out of my head lol... yeah.. those were the days. :S

Of course, the more things change, the more things seem to stay the same as they say. Instead of gaming, now its web development and learning & listening to internet marketing info 24/7. Now if I start seeing Joel in my kitchen out the corner of my eye and constantly hearing clips from the Secret Classroom DVD in my head... It might just be time to join a 12 step program or something. :)

P.S. The WordPress Speed Tweak Tips I use that I said I would post over at my blog are coming soon, for anyone thats interested... I just got all wrapped up today in integrating a 3rd party affiliate script into the layout of the site I'm almost finished developing.

funny thing about WoW. It can be good for content link sites. I once threw up a page on how to do a specific task very efficiently in the game (no not gold farming) in 3 days on a domain i bought. It was well written and got good reviews from the forum community.

It was a good experience of creating content, adding adsense and profiting. If you can find a good niche like I did that isn't covered you can do well. My page had 1 article and made a bit under 100$ in 2 months. It wasn't optimized at all. Unfortunately I was new and took the site down after things slowed down. And because I wanted to experiment with other things. Considering it worked out to 33$ an hour (over a while i will admit) It did show that you can make a living if you figure this marketing business out.

Really Enjoyed reading your post, I have always wondered what kind of time went into being one of those big guild leaders. I spent about six months playing that game about 6 hours a day, but that ended quite a while ago. Now I actually kind of enjoy it, it's a way to escape for a few hours every week or two without a hangover the next morning
