On September 11th, 2008, I received an email from Matt Holt at John Wiley and Sons Publishing.
Matt asked me if I would write the definitive guide on Twitter for business.
And he wanted me to write it FAST.
As in, we have to have the manuscript in a couple months so we can release it by February of 2009.
Wow, that IS fast!
I decided to accept the challenge, and with the help of a lot of input from Twitter users and a great team to organize and see the project to it's conclusion, I'm pleased to announce that the manuscript is complete!
What's the name of the book?
It's called...
Twitter Power: How to Dominate Your Market One Tweet at a Time
I'm pleased to reveal the book cover now for the very first time...

This is a comprehensive guide that demonstrates how any business or individual can leverage the power of Twitter and benefit from the results.
I'm also excited about the foreword of the book.
It was written by none other than the world's greatest motivational speaker, Anthony Robbins.
This is a highly anticipated title as there are no Twitter books on the shelves of the stores as of this writing.
It's about time, don't you think?
Chapters include:
and that's just a drop in the bucket.
This book is PACKED with useful strategies and techniques that will help bring any business into the world of social media.
Watch for Twitter Power coming in February 2009.
You can pre-order your copy now at Amazon.com.

I look forward to reading it, but I think the Twitter bird would have spiced up the cover.
December 4, 2008 09:23 PM
The title is hot. I can't wait till it comes out. As for the cover, I would like to see a picture of the blue bird that is sometimes affiliated with Twitter. Either way, you're looking at another bestseller. Congrats!
December 4, 2008 09:24 PM
Joel...congrats!
Impressive that it was completed so quickly...
December 4, 2008 09:24 PM
Great looking cover. Simple & nice the way I like things.
December 4, 2008 09:25 PM
That cover is very, shall we say "yawn"? The birdie would've been better methinks.
December 4, 2008 09:26 PM
I can't wait for this one to come out. Twitter has become a part of my life, literally.
I can see the potential but I can't figure out how to make it work for me.
Leave it to Joel Comm to make it happen.
December 4, 2008 09:26 PM
Thanks!
Wiley didn't want to mess with the bird since it is a Twitter trademark. Legal issues.
Ultimately, it was thought that this book will fit in better with the other business books. They are pretty pumped about it and so am I!
December 4, 2008 09:28 PM
Joel, that is a pretty neat looking cover. Easy on the eyes too. And yes, as mentioned by Shawn, the Twitter bird will surely spice up the look.
Best Wishes,
Shinil.

Content sounds tight and powerful. Cover looks amorphous, color and lower-case font work against the word "power" in the title and diminish perception of the book's credibility and value.
Covers sell books. Too late to change the design?
December 4, 2008 09:56 PM
Hey guys whats up with the cover. It does not need a bird when it has the names Joel Comm and Anthony Robins on the cover.
Looks great. I definitely need to get up to speed with Tweets.
December 4, 2008 10:28 PM
1) Can you call him Tony?
His name recognition is Tony Robbins. Unless he's moving to
rebrand by a degree?
2) I don't like the stick font at all.
Yes, the Twitterdudes are minimalists at heart.
But that's boring.
/still can't believe you went with Robbins over me! ;) /
December 4, 2008 10:31 PM
Joel,
I think i looks great just as it is.. nice colors clean look and feel. Don't mess with it..

Yeah, it could be much spicier! I like my book covers to jump at me.
December 4, 2008 10:34 PM
I am struggling to see the link between Tony Robbins and Twitter - given he only created his account 3 weeks ago and hasn't made more then one tweet. ???
Not sure if he was the best choice for the forward....
December 4, 2008 10:36 PM
I like everything except the subtitle part - maybe needs font style/size change and/or color? Other than that I likey.
December 4, 2008 10:38 PM
I'd do away with the light blue background in the upper half of the cover. It gives a dull feel to the book.

I think the cover is good...simple, but good. I think having some sort of icon or logo would definitely be a good addition.
December 4, 2008 11:24 PM
Without reading any comments I thought I would leave mine so that my first impression isn't tainted.
If I didn't know you Joel I would have picked this book up off the shelf just to see what Anthony Robbins has to say about Twitter. I think mentioning his name right at the top is a good move, it gets attention and gives you a ton credibility.
The title is fantastic, simple, and matches the cover in that the design is very simple as well. To me it has that web 2.0 feel to it.
Well done, I look forward to reading it when it's published!
December 4, 2008 11:34 PM
Great. I can't wait to read and learn. You can't deny that those are Twitter colors.
December 4, 2008 11:34 PM
Hi guys gals Tweet fans far n wide ... well it's definitely going to be a hit even a best seller with those three internet marketing gurus names on the cover and of course this will help a quick Google search reveals Results 1 - 10 of about 113,000,000 ... the countless times I've read on blogs and forums how people have went to look at what all the fuss was about with Twitter and they just didn't get it at first like most of us! but now are really turned on to the power within Twitter I betcha if you look at any of the pages of your follower or the Twitters your following you can get a link that you would not have come across as easy as it is to within Twitter ... definitely a great concept which in turn will make this book be on the wanted list and really sell well way to go Joel...
All my best to you and your Tweets

Hi Joel;
Your book cover is perfect as is and requires no more changes! The oversized font of "Twitter Power" shouts to the reader "read me" , whether or not they are familiar with the internet. Anyone seeing the word "Twitter" will want to know what it is, what's the interest and how they can get one if they want it. The word "Twitter" alone is intrigimg! Add the names of Anthony (or Tony) Robbins and Joel Comm...they spell SUCCESS and BEST SEllER. I can hardly wait to read the book. Congrats to you Joel and to Tony! On my way to the top, Maribelle

Saw your tweet re: cover. FWIW: You probably can't use the birdie because of copyright issues, something for legal to check out. My input:
While it's smart to use the twitter-branded color, the color is not a great one for book covers. I'd ask the designer to use the same color but deepen it a hue and then brighten it. Readers will recognize the type of blue but it'll will be a more vibrant version of the aqua. Make sense? Other color will also need to be adjusted.
Using the aqua for your name might be swapped out for the ochre. Ask to see what that looks like.
Smart to put Tony Robbins' name at the top.
Agree that the sans serif font is a bit too blah. Ask for a font that's a hybrid sans serif and serif to soften the edges of the serif. OR at least use a condensed Arial that mimics the look of Tweet Deck.
Hope this is helpful...it's based on hard-lived experience!

Hey Joel,
Congrats on your upcoming release of Twitter Power!
Look forward to reading it.
Great company you are in with Anthony Robbins writing your foreword.

Fantastic! A timely addition to the social media library by a great writer. Can't wait.
The cover is simple and functional: does the job. I'm guessing the answer is yes or you'd have done it, but do the guys at Twitter have copyright on the fonts they use as well as on the bird?
December 8, 2008 08:07 PM
The book cover looks corporate which is a good fit for the market it's being targeted at, vs one that's focused on the bizop market with flashy cars and houses.
It's a great cover to match the theme, and will be interesting to see what Tony has to say.
December 10, 2008 09:01 PM
Congratulations Joel! I'm pretty clueless when it comes to Twitter.
I run a fitness boot camp and have been using it to promote my business by writing articles and posting links to the articles in my tweets (or is it twits?) not sure if anyone is reading it or if I'm it's just a complete waste of time...
So, I'm looking forward to your book!

Way to go Joel!
Should be another "best seller" for you. I was wondering if you will be doing a similar promotion for "Twitter Power", as you did with "Click Here To Order"? You remember, the library picture thing, for an autographed copy? If so, great! If not, no worries, I already requested that my library order it!
Be Well!
Dave

Just received my copy, and can't wait to read through it.
Wanted to say THANKS for the shout out (on page 86). I showed my wife and she was so excited she cried a little bit! Tears of joy, of course. :)

Great book, Joel. I just finished reading it yesterday. You have yet to let me down with any of your books.

A fine book in such a short time period. Thanks for your contribution to the Twitter field!
