When I was a child in the Chicago suburbs, I recall one summer that our city was completely overrun by cicadas, those noisy flying insects that swarm by the thousands and leave their shell behind when they are finished with them. Cicada casings were absolutely everywhere. It was pretty darned cool.
They're back!
This time they are invading the east coast of the states along with a few states in the midwest.
Literally, trillions of these noisy critters will blanket the landscape of Kentucky, Ohio, New York and ten other states in a frenzy of breeding. They will die sometime in June leaving behind trillions of cicada casings.
The last time this occurred was 1987. I don't know that we are going to see them in Oklahoma, but I guess we'll wait and see.
