I love my blog. I love that I can share whatever thoughts and ideas come my way and that people actually enjoy reading it. And I guess it really doesn't matter who reads it. I just enjoy blogging. It's my little corner of the web.
However, my site is about to get a face lift. I have deciding to test the waters of Internet consulting. After all, I've got ten years of Internet experience and have seen the highs and lows of the Internet economy. From pioneering sites in 1995 to the sale of a site to Yahoo! to the development of over two dozens site and to a best-selling ebook, I've seen quite alot!
While I intend to continue blogging on this domain, I am having my main page professionally redesigned. In fact, you can observe the process as it takes place at DesignOutpost.com.
I first found the site several years ago and have had several sites designed by their team, including a site for coupon code, a site for business opportunities and a few others. Here's how it works.
You post a project that you want to be completed along with the price you are willing to pay. You then submit the total payment plus 10%, which goes to the site owner. Designers then take a stab at bringing your site to life by creating mockups and posting them on the forums. At that time, you critique the designs and suggest changes that you wish to see take place.
It's alot of fun to see the different styles of the designers, and its great that they are all competing to get paid for the job. Once you find a design that you like, you declare the designer a winner and the site owner releases the payment to them. You then receive whatever it is you have paid for.
You can see my site design contest as it takes place over the next couple weeks when you click here!
It should be interesting to see what people come up with.

Hey Joel,
You did refer me to DesignOutpost when I asked about who did your graphics. I will be doing my next product site with them. Will let you know how it goes.

Alot is too a word! I use it all the time ;-)
I deleted a comment from a very bitter designer who is having a difficult time adjusting to the way people do business with designers. It was comical, but crude... so he got the boot.
