The cough that wouldn't go away

I have been sick for three weeks now. I'm not complaining. I rarely get ill, so this is just unusual.

I don't know that I have ever coughed my head off like I have been these past few weeks. Tried decongestants, antibiotics, vitamins, hot soup and lots of sleep. I've got what I call a "hanger-onner". It just doesn't want to let go.

So, its a rambling day for me as I sit in bed working.

I watched THREE, count 'em, THREE movies yesterday.

First, I watched Fantastic Voyage with the entire family. I remember watching this one when I was a kid and I thought my kids would enjoy it. It's campy as all get out, but it was still good fun to watch. Besides, it has a very young Rachel Welch in it, so how could you go wrong? ;-)

Later in the day, I watched Hangman's Curse, a film based on a story by Frank E. Peretti, of This Present Darkness fame.

I was quite disappointed with the film. I never read the book, but this screenplay was terrible. The acting was mediocre. I must confess, some of the special effects and sound effects were cool, but they were drowned out by stereotypical roles and and a message only partially delivered. Not recommended.

Fortunately, I ended the day viewing Les Miserables with Mary. This 1998 remake of the Victor Hugo classic is one of my favorite films (a runner up to the 15 Best Movies Ever, which I hope to start back up with #8 this coming week...).

Liam Neesom and Geoffrey Rush turn in some of their finest performances as reformed convict Jean Valjean and his former prison guard, Javert. Les Miserables is a fantastic period piece with underpinnings of mercy and justice woven thoughout the characters lives. Indeed, these are the central themes of the story, with both mercy and justice being served in the end.

So once again, I am to have plenty of bed rest, drink plenty of fluids, and take decongestants. While the doctor did not put any films on the prescription list, I anticipate 100% chance that I will view at least two movies today.

What do you like to watch when you are sick?

Your blog is awesome, let me just say. Yesterday, even though I wasn't sick, I watched and thoroughly enjoyed BIG FISH with Ewan McGregor. It's an awesome film and if you haven't had the pleasure of watching it yet, you should and soon!

I usually prefer Spongebob. Somehow, that show always makes me laugh... and you would know!

If I get sick I just take it easy and rest, any movie will be fine to watch.
