Tornado hits downtown Atlanta

Posted on March 15, 2008 12:05 AM

I'm currently in Atlanta for Matt Bacak's Marketing Madness conference. I'm set to speak to 150 or so people tomorrow. So Dan Nickerson and I are in our hotel room right next to the airport. I mean DIRECTLY next to the airport. Our balcony overlooks all the runways, so we've enjoyed the sights and sounds of planes continually taking off and landing. But as we were coming back from dinner tonight, I noticed lightning in... Continue Reading

Beaver Creek to Keystone

Posted on July 15, 2004 11:27 PM

We checked out of Beaver Creek around noon today, leisurely packing and enjoying the remainder of our stay. Jenna wanted to try the bungee trampoline, so we let her bounce for a few minutes before we left the resort. I think the height intimidated her, but she had fun. The drive from Beaver Creek to Keystone was less than an hour, but we stopped in Frisco en route to get something to eat. We enjoyed... Continue Reading

Beaver Creek, Day 2

Posted on July 14, 2004 10:01 PM

I'm wiped out. It's not that we did a LOT today, but combining the altitude with the activity seems to have taken its toll on me. We started the day with a complimentary breakfast at the lodge. Bread, cereal, fruit, etc. Then it was off to the Steve Jones Stables for horseback riding. We scheduled a one hour scenic ride. All four of us are a bit more seasoned riders than we were a few... Are You Green, Yellow or Red?

Fliers to Be Rated for Risk Level New System Will Scrutinize Each Passenger, Assign Color Code In the most aggressive -- and, some say, invasive -- step yet to protect air travelers, the federal government and the airlines will phase in a computer system next year to... Red River, Day 7

Posted on July 26, 2003 04:34 PM

Our last day and we've really got nothing left that we want to do. We considered going to Colorado to see the sand dunes near Alamosa, but it was over 1.5 hours away and it was going to be hot. So we opted to have lunch in town and play it by ear. But first, we stopped at the Red River Candy Mountain Fudge shop. As you may recall from yesterday's entry, the manager asked... Talk to me, eh?

Finally. Sunshine! The storms have passed and it looks like we'll have a reprieve. Huzzah. By the way, see that little "comments" link at the bottom of each entry? That's a place for YOU to reply to me. Simply click the link and you'll see a brief form that allows you the opportunity to rant back at me. Of course, you can also see others babble. It's fun, try it! I'm going out with MrsMayor... Continue Reading

Not again...

Posted on May 9, 2003 09:31 PM

It's just after 10 pm in Edmond, OK and it is another BAD night for storms. They have spotted a tornado about 30 miles west of here and the storm is heading this way. Sticking close to the TV... Continue Reading
