Top Ten Things I Learned About Life from Playing Computer and Video Games

Posted on November 19, 2009 08:05 AM

I'm a computer and video gamer from waaaay back. I remember when Pong came out. I owned a Fairchild Channel 1 video game system. That came out just before the Atari 2600 for you video game buffs. I played games on my TRS-80 model 1 computer in 1979. From adventure games and first person shooters to strategy and massively multiplayer online games, I've been there and done that. Computer and video games have a way... Continue Reading

iPhone Review

Posted on September 1, 2007 12:34 AM

I did it. I bit the bullet and picked up an iPhone. I've been a faithful Treo 650 user for two years, but the buzz regarding Apple's new device won me over. So I ponied up $599 + shipping and tax to get one of these puppies in my hands, though I was unsure of what I would find once I actually got to try it out for myself. I may now render the verdict... Best Buy - Attack of the Blue Shirts

Posted on November 27, 2006 12:00 AM

Alright, we are now headlong into the holiday season, and I wonder... Would it be ok with you if I follow a rabbit trail today? I just want to get something off my chest. It may just end up being instructive, but right now I just need to... um... well... er... rant? Yes, that's it. I need to rant. So, if you aren't interested in my little hissy fit, go ahead and delete this email... Continue Reading

Win a Spongebob Squarepants Inflatable

Posted on February 17, 2005 10:42 PM

Spongebob is everywhere. He's on TV. He's at the movies. He's on tshirts, socks and underwear. He's on my watch (really...) Let's face it. Spongebob is a mega-superstar. Remember those Spongebob Inflatables that were being stolen from Burger King restaurants last year? My friend, David Lawrence, is giving away FIVE (5) of these Spongebob Squarepants inflatable characters via his web site and radio show, Online Tonight Enter to win one of these cool thingamajigs, and... A new poll shows President Bush dominating Democratic Presidential candidate John F. Kerry with an 80% to 20% lead. Day 29: King's Dominion

Posted on November 2, 2003 06:34 PM

We checked out of the Red Roof Inn around 9:30 or so and drove a few miles to Paramount's King's Dominion Theme Park in Doswell, Virginia. I purchased tickets online last night to save a few bucks. We checked Socrates into the kennel at the park and went on our way. Our first stop was the Spongebob Squarepants 3-D attraction. It was a standard theater/simulator ride with 3-D effects. The ride was very jerky, but... Continue Reading

Day 28: Arlington Cemetery

Posted on November 1, 2003 08:47 PM

We had a casual morning, taking our time to get packed up and on our way. Packing is such a hassle and I do not look forward to "the big schlepp" each time we leave. I have streamlined the procedure a bit more with each stop, but we are also acquiring more souveniers along the way, so the van is getting more and more stuffed. We left our hotel around 12:30 pm and went to... Continue Reading

GeoCaching!

Posted on August 17, 2003 06:33 PM

We discovered a great new game yesterday. Using nothing more than a GPS device (Global Positioning Satellite), our car and the cooperation of other fun seekers, we participated in an anytime sport known as GeoCaching! Essentially, people all over the world create the treasure that others would see. Take an old shoebox and fill it with various knickknacks. Find a place to stash it, often a public park. Get your hands on a GPS device... Continue Reading

Red River, Day 4

Posted on July 23, 2003 11:17 PM

We got a late start this morning, but isn't that what vacationing is all about? Jenna is so excited about going horseback riding, so we walked to the stable and made a reservation for tomorrow at 10:30 am. She will be riding a black and white horse named Questa. Every time we passed the stable today, she pointed out Questa to all of us. Took a photo of Jenna out front of the lodge. For... Continue Reading
