The Failure in New Orleans

Posted on September 6, 2005 12:32 PM

Liberal democrats and the mainstream media have been incredibly quick to bash President Bush and the Federal Government for their handling of the rescue efforts in New Orleans. Sid Blumenthal, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. , and Molly Ivins shots off condemnation pieces within 24 hours of this tragedy, revealing their true colors once again. Hillary Rodham Clinton is calling for a 9/11-style investigation of Katrina, seeking to point fingers and cause disruption for the President... Continue Reading

Lego Mayor

Posted on December 9, 2004 12:00 AM

Someone on Deal of Day introduced me to an amusing online toy today. It is called The Mini Mizer, where you can picture yourself as a Lego character. Created by Chris Doyle of ReasonablyClever.com, this little gadget allows you to select from different heads, bodies, limbs and more to customize a Lego character that looks like whatever you want. Here is me, with the addition of an airbrushed goatee. Fun stuff, huh? To create your... Continue Reading

Fahrenhype 9/11

Posted on October 11, 2004 04:31 PM

From today's edition of FamilyFirst... Today's Family First site is one that seeks to help level the playing field in current political climate. Sort of a ying to the more liberal yang that seems to be cluttering the airwaves, print media, and bandwidth of the Internet. While some of you may scoff at the material presented on this site, call it lies, hateful deception, and other things that can't and won't be repeated here, just... Continue Reading

Standing up for traditional marriage

Posted on August 13, 2004 12:02 AM

The California Supreme Court got one right. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The California Supreme Court on Thursday voided the nearly 4,000 same-sex marriages sanctioned in San Francisco this year and ruled unanimously that the mayor overstepped his authority by issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. The court said the city violated the law when it issued the certificates, since both legislation and a voter-approved measure defined marriage as a union between a man... Continue Reading

Weird and Wacky on the Web

Posted on December 20, 2003 11:01 AM

The web now boasts BILLIONS of web pages, making it challenging to find the "good stuff". My friend, Randy Cassingham, has been creating "good stuff" online for many years. His site, This is True, deals with bizarre-but-true items culled from the world's newspapers. Randy provides plenty of excellent content and gives it a humorous twist with his commentary. If you need something useful in your email box, this will provide a needed respite from the... Continue Reading

George W. Bush "Top Gun" Doll

Posted on December 16, 2003 08:19 PM

Found this one while surfing the web. It's a George W. Bush talking doll! Apparantly, these things are selling like hotcakes. The company has added some new dolls to the roster. You can now order talking Donald Rumsfeld, Dennis Miller or Ann Coulter dolls. I guess Ann Coulter is the closing thing to a Barbie (only Ann has brains in her head), but it is likely there will be more men wanting to find this... Continue Reading

Where's the Mayor?

Posted on December 8, 2003 06:42 PM

Things have been hectic lately. Lots of traveling. One month on the road with family. One week in Chicago with family over Thanksgiving. Three nights in Boulder, Colorado for an Internet conference. And now its time for the Christmas rush. Jenna's birthday is next week. Gotta buy gifts. Gotta work. Gotta remember to stop and smell the roses. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. Deep cleansing breaths. Inhale. Exhale. There, don't you feel better? #13 in my Best... Continue Reading

Day 3: Land of Lincoln

Posted on October 7, 2003 10:32 PM

We left Jacksonville, MO around 11 am and set course for Beardstown, IL, made famous by the Beardstown Ladies Investment Club. Our visit had nothing to do with investing. We visited friends, Carla and Rick Simmert. Carla is a blessing as she is the person God had in place to take over Mary's web site, SafeHaven, when Mary no longer had the time to give it the attention it needed. We spent a couple hours... File under: "Just shoot me now"

Posted on July 29, 2003 12:25 PM

I decided to go check out the new Aspen Athletic Club that is opening just 1.5 miles away from our house. Mary and I have been talking about joining a club for a while, so I thought I'd stop be on my way to work. The actual club is still being built, but they have a temporary facility set up where they can sell memberships. I don't like long sales pitches and I had more... Continue Reading

Weight update

Posted on May 29, 2003 09:21 AM

Perhaps I should change the category title to "the not-so-incredible, rather-ordinary, fat and lazy mayor". That's the kind of week it has been. With the server problems I've been experiencing, I have not had the time nor the drive to exercise. On top of that, I am enjoying large portions of tasty food. So, I'll probably weigh next Monday and we'll see how much damage I have done. I thought I'd make myself accountable by... Continue Reading

192 pounds

Posted on May 15, 2003 10:03 AM

Looks like I'm off to a good start. That's three pounds in three days. I'm going to visit an athletic club this morning to see if I like it. They've got an $18/month month-to-month deal with no contract. Registration fee is $149 and it includes the first and last month. I'll report back later. Man, I'm hungry. ;-) By the way, I've created a category for my weight loss entries. It's called The Incredible Shrinking... Continue Reading

I'm Addicted!

Posted on May 12, 2003 11:05 PM

About 3-4 weeks ago, MrsMayor innocently surfed the web looking for a time-waster... a diversion, if you will. She succeeded by landing at PopCap Games. She remembered that I previously downloaded a game called Bejeweled, which has kept us both busy for countless hours. However, on this particular day, I found her playing a new game called Big Money. Folks, this game has done BOTH of us in! The kids will enter our office and... Continue Reading

Hope all you moms have a great day today. My mom is here from out of town, but she is leaving in just a bit. Then we are heading out to MrsMayor's parent's house for the afternoon. I need to grab some flowers for my mother-in-law and score some points. :-) Continue Reading

Anger Management

Posted on May 10, 2003 10:30 PM

Went to Steak and Ale for dinner with the lovely and engaging MrsMayor. Our waitress was very annoying. Her style was phony and patronizing (in a bad way). Food was good though. The movie, on the other hand, not so much. I like stupid movies, but this one had few good laughs and a lot of tasteless humor. Of course, the teenagers behind us were yukking it up. I was totally disappointed with the ending... Continue Reading

Finally. Sunshine! The storms have passed and it looks like we'll have a reprieve. Huzzah. By the way, see that little "comments" link at the bottom of each entry? That's a place for YOU to reply to me. Simply click the link and you'll see a brief form that allows you the opportunity to rant back at me. Of course, you can also see others babble.
