The Joel Comm Show with Jen Groover

Posted on November 18, 2009 08:18 AM

For over one year, Dan Nickerson and I co-hosted a live video stream every Wednesday at 11 am. The show was called Joel Comm LIVE!. For one hour we would discuss internet marketing, answer questions from viewers, welcome guests and be silly. However, with my travel schedule becoming busier and busier, it became more difficult to pull off a regularly scheduled live program. Continue Reading

The NEW Joel Comm Show is Coming!

Posted on October 29, 2009 04:29 PM

Joel Comm LIVE has been absent from the Internet since the spring. For over one year, Dan Nickerson and I welcomed guests to our program in a live format. We interacted with viewers, answered questions about Internet marketing, played with flying monkeys, read a number of humourous Top Ten lists and had a generally fun time. However, with my travel schedule being so heavy, I was unable to do the live program each week. And... Continue Reading

Dan O' Day comes to town

Posted on September 11, 2008 09:37 AM

New media may be taking over the world, but millions of people still listen to their radios everyday. I listen on my way to and from the office, usually to talk-radio. A few weeks back I had the pleasure of meeting a living legend of radio, Dan O' Day. A former disc jockey and leading radio guru, I instantly connected with Dan and invited him to come spend a day with me and my team... Continue Reading

The Top Affiliate Challenge - In Defense of Thor Schrock

Posted on July 6, 2008 09:11 AM

Thor Schrock is catching a lot of heat over his online reality program, The Top Affiliate Challenge. I remember when Thor first told me about his idea for the show. I encouraged him to do it, but I warned him that it would take a miracle to pull off a quality show on a daily basis. When Eric and I produced The Next Internet Millionaire, we filmed for two weeks straight and had a two-week... Continue Reading

My Brother the CPA

Posted on June 26, 2008 08:51 AM

Growing up, I did a lot of things with my older brother, Michael. He's got two years on me, so I was frequently wanting to hang out with him and his friends. We don't see each other much since he lives in Illinois, but he just came to Colorado for a visit. What do you I do with my guests when they come to town? Invite them to join me on my show, of course! Continue Reading

Broadcasting from the Back Seat

Posted on June 18, 2008 12:55 PM

Today's show was very interesting. I am on my way to San Francisco to speak at a conference, but I really wanted to do my show. So I decided to broadcast from the back seat of the car that was taking me to the airport! I was hoping my new Verizon broadband modem would do the trick. From what viewers told me, it worked pretty good. Continue Reading

Rick Butts is Silenced

Posted on April 23, 2008 07:05 PM

Today's episode of Joel Comm LIVE! featured Internet marketer Rick Butts in an unusual guest appearance. We couldn't get Rick's audio on the stream, so he was forced to mime his communication. As usual, Dan and I answer questions, give away prizes and have a good time. Continue Reading

Episode 2 - Lunch with Joel

Posted on April 2, 2008 08:44 PM

Episode 2 of Joel Comm LIVE was an extra-long episode that went over one and one-half hours. Dan and I ordered in lunch and I pretty much made a pig of myself choking down a chicken wrap and french fries. We answer tons of questions from viewers and enjoyed up to 150 people streaming the video at one time. There were three giveaways and we put some advertisers URLs on the whiteboard. All in all... The Top Affiliate Challenge

He is very creative and he's about to demonstrate that creativity to the world. Thor is taking on the task of creating his own reality show, The Top Affiliate Challenge. Unlike my show, Thor is seeking to broadcast his show much closer to... Continue Reading

2007 - The Year in Review

Posted on December 29, 2007 07:05 AM

I'm at Will Rogers airport in Oklahoma City, getting ready to make the trek home to Colorado after a week of visiting with family and friends. I've had some time to reflect on the year and would like to take a stroll down memory lane. The year started with a crazy idea. I knew that others had dabbled with the idea of doing an Internet reality show, but no one had really taken the concept... Continue Reading

Reality TV

Posted on September 27, 2007 02:57 PM

Reality TV. The words conjure up images of people doing crazy things for cash. On Survivor its having the endurance to brave the elements and make it on a deserted island with a bunch of strangers. On American Idol its being embarrased before the entire country as Simon Cowell makes you his whipping boy. On The Apprentice its about giving up your well-paying business to take a lower paying job with Donald Trump. And what... Continue Reading

Episode 4 Now Online!

Posted on September 13, 2007 12:05 AM

I like to call episode 4 our "fear factor" episode. What did they do? You'll have to watch to find out! Continue Reading

The Apprentice Los Angeles - Thumbs Down

Posted on January 7, 2007 09:13 PM

I just got up from the television set to come write this entry, abandoning the program I was watching. I've been a fan of The Apprentice since the first season. I thought Trump's choice of Bill Rancic as his first apprentice was solid. Since then, the show has had fewer truly qualified contestants. I thought a new location would be an interesting twist on previous seasons, so I began watching the first episode of The... Continue Reading

Stars Wars - The Television Show

Posted on March 17, 2006 04:57 PM

Star Wars: The Return of the Sith

Posted on May 19, 2005 11:14 PM

A long time ago in galaxy far, far away, a thirteen-year old boy discovered a new world of action and adventure which had captured his imagination unlike anything before. Star Wars hit the theaters in 1977, and I still remember sitting in the very front row, completely in awe by the images on the screen. I probably saw the film ten times in our local cinema, and waited patiently for George Lucas to churn out... Continue Reading

The most requested DVDs of all time are finally going to be hitting the retail shelves today. Faster than you can say, "Use the Force, Luke", The Star Wars Trilogy DVD set will probably break all records for DVD sales. I know that I will be contributing my $45 to George Lucas's pocketbooks as I plan on picking up my copy on my way to work today. If you can stand to wait a few... Continue Reading

The Final "Friends"

Posted on May 7, 2004 02:00 PM

When Friends came to NBC ten years ago, Mary and I loved the program. We recorded it every week and rarely missed an episode. About three years ago, we completely lost interest in the show. Tons of sex jokes and too many on-again off-again relationships contributed to changing the channel. On top of that, Survivor was scheduled in opposition to Friends. However, we did want to see how the series ended. As far as series... Continue Reading

Jumping the Shark

Posted on September 3, 2003 01:12 PM

Named after the episode of Happy Days where the Fonz jumped a shark on waterskis, Jump the Shark is a guilty pleasure that can consume many hours of your time. The term refers to an exact moment in time where a television show took a turn for the worse. Reminisce with others who think Seinfeld was perfect up until the very last episode. Disagree with others who think the Brady Bunch went downhill after Cousin... Continue Reading

Red River, Day 4

Posted on July 23, 2003 11:17 PM

We got a late start this morning, but isn't that what vacationing is all about? Jenna is so excited about going horseback riding, so we walked to the stable and made a reservation for tomorrow at 10:30 am. She will be riding a black and white horse named Questa. Every time we passed the stable today, she pointed out Questa to all of us. Took a photo of Jenna out front of the lodge. For... Continue Reading

Survivor 6: The Amazon - SHAM!

Posted on May 11, 2003 11:23 PM

I am so disgusted with tonight's final episode of Survivor 6: The Amazon. 21-year old Jenna was declared winner by an overwhelming majority of the jury. Now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we live in a world full of crazies. I can't imagine a more undeserving person to get the million $$$. I'm going to go sleep this one off...
