Top Ten Things I Learned About Life from Playing Computer and Video Games

Posted on November 19, 2009 08:05 AM

I'm a computer and video gamer from waaaay back. I remember when Pong came out. I owned a Fairchild Channel 1 video game system. That came out just before the Atari 2600 for you video game buffs. I played games on my TRS-80 model 1 computer in 1979. From adventure games and first person shooters to strategy and massively multiplayer online games, I've been there and done that. Computer and video games have a way... Continue Reading

The Joel Comm Show with Jen Groover

Posted on November 18, 2009 08:18 AM

For over one year, Dan Nickerson and I co-hosted a live video stream every Wednesday at 11 am. The show was called Joel Comm LIVE!. For one hour we would discuss internet marketing, answer questions from viewers, welcome guests and be silly. However, with my travel schedule becoming busier and busier, it became more difficult to pull off a regularly scheduled live program. Continue Reading

The NEW Joel Comm Show is Coming!

Posted on October 29, 2009 04:29 PM

Joel Comm LIVE has been absent from the Internet since the spring. For over one year, Dan Nickerson and I welcomed guests to our program in a live format. We interacted with viewers, answered questions about Internet marketing, played with flying monkeys, read a number of humourous Top Ten lists and had a generally fun time. However, with my travel schedule being so heavy, I was unable to do the live program each week. And... Continue Reading

Fourteen Types of Tweets

Posted on June 25, 2009 06:13 PM

Apart from Twitter's own terms of service which prohibit obvious things like harassment, transmitting viruses and spamming other members, there really aren't many rules to the site. You can essentially use Twitter however you like. However, for people and businesses who want to use Twitter successfully (eg: build a following and grow their circle of influence), there are a number of best practices that can be observed. I cover many of these in my book... Continue Reading

The Right Way To Use Twitter

Posted on June 7, 2009 08:00 AM

There's a rumor going around. It's growing. It's dangerous. And I think I may have encouraged it. People are starting to believe that Twitter is a sales tool. They see the site as a valuable resource that allows them to broadcast their sales messages and land new deals. Continue Reading

The Two Kinds Of Tweets -- And How To Use Them

Posted on May 7, 2009 08:00 AM

In my book, Twitter Power, I describe a number of different kinds of tweets that twitterers are posting on the site. I talk about news tweets and customer service tweets, random thoughts and feedback, and a whole lot more besides. I explain how businesses are using them, why they work and how to make them work for you. You don't have to use all -- or any -- of those tweet models if you don't... Continue Reading

Twitter Power on The Denver Morning Show

Posted on March 3, 2009 07:53 AM

I had the opportunity to be a guest on the Denver Morning Show today. The show broadcasts on Channel 2 out of Englewood, CO and is anchored by Tom Green. (Not THAT Tom Green.. the other one...) The interview was to focus on my new book, Twitter Power, and I certainly had a skeptic in Mr. Green! The set was typical as you would expect of a local news program. It's always fun to watch... Steamboat Springs, Colorado has always been one of my favorite ski spots. Well, there's no snow... yet. But I am vacationing here with my family this week. Posted on August 25, 2003 11:41 AM

This story just in from NY Times, the (ahem) paper of record (not) Thieves Take Figure of Jesus, but Not the Cross Who made off with Jesus? He is no longer with the company, but I was ticked just the same. I left the office at 2 pm and came home to find... Continue Reading
