AdWords, the Other Side of the Google Coin

Posted on November 22, 2006 07:48 AM

Like most things on the Internet, marketing can be divided into two distinct periods: Before Google and After Google. Before Google, getting a link to your site on other sites took a huge amount of work. You'd have to write to each publisher separately. You'd have to try different CPC networks until you found one that worked for you. And you'd have to create a new Web page just for reciprocal links. After Google... well... Continue Reading

Bitten by the Ebook Bug

Posted on April 11, 2005 04:21 PM

It took me nearly ten years of being online, but I have finally figured out that there is more than one way to skin an Internet kitty. I've been trying to earn a living with advertising dollars, not realizing the bounty of information that I have tucked away in my grey matter. Turns out people are willing to ante up a little coinage for me to share my knowledge. My success with Google AdSense led... Continue Reading

Target BOOTS the Salvation Army

Posted on December 2, 2004 12:52 PM

I am ticked off at Target. We shop there regularly, but not today. You may ask "why Joel, why?", and I'll tell you. For years, the Salvation Army has stood in front of various department stores and chain outlets ringing their bells, spreading good holiday cheer and collecting funds for very worthwhile causes, such as feeding the hungry and clothing the poor. When I was at Target earlier this week, I remember noticing the absence... Continue Reading

The 62-year-old man came to the emergency room of Cholet General Hospital in western France in 2002. He had a history of major psychiatric illness, was suffering from... Continue Reading

Red River, Day 4

Posted on July 23, 2003 11:17 PM

We got a late start this morning, but isn't that what vacationing is all about? Jenna is so excited about going horseback riding, so we walked to the stable and made a reservation for tomorrow at 10:30 am. She will be riding a black and white horse named Questa. Every time we passed the stable today, she pointed out Questa to all of us. Took a photo of Jenna out front of the lodge. For... Continue Reading

Childhood revisited ala eBay

Posted on June 9, 2003 12:48 AM

Today, I am eight-years old for the second time. Sure, I carry myself in the body of a 39-year old. I'm hairier and heavier than the last time I turned eight. But make no mistake. Thanks to the magic of eBay, I am reliving my childhood in a very meaningful way. I submit to you photographs of my favorite childhood toy animal. It was a kangaroo puppet named Foopy Doo. Foopy Doo - 1 Foopy... Continue Reading

Enter the Matrix

Posted on May 15, 2003 10:54 PM

Sprung for a new computer game today, Enter the Matrix. Of course, it is based on The Matrix world and released to coincide with The Matrix Reloaded (which Mary and I intend to see Sunday evening). Cool - the Wachowski brothers wrote and directed the game, which is virtually unheard of in game production. Tons of additional footage was shot using principle actor JUST for the game. So it should add a lot to The... Continue Reading
