Spontaneous Vacation

Posted on June 4, 2003 03:17 PM by Joel Comm

After the week I had last week, the icing was put on the proverbial cake yesterday afternoon. I found that I have been paying way too much for my health insurance thanks to my agent at Al Boenker insurance (The link is there so you know to avoid them). He is no longer with the company, but I was ticked just the same.

I left the office at 2 pm and came home to find Mary and the kids playing a game of Clue. (Pretty sure it was Miss Peacock in the Ball Room with the knife) I said, "Let's pack our bags and get out of here". She asked, "What? Where? Why? When?", in so many words. I told her, "Vacation. Anywhere. Because. Tomorrow."

Part of the blessing of being your own boss is that you can take off when you darned well feel like it. So, we put a leash on the minivan and got in the dog... scratch that... reverse it. And we headed about 70 miles northeast of Edmond to the town of Enid, OK. We were here four years ago and enjoyed it, so we thought we'd spend a few days here. Stay tuned for our adventures. Talk about a cliffhanger, huh?
