If you've created some new AdSense code recently, you've probably noticed that you now have an extra decision to make. Once you've picked your format and chosen your color schemes, you have to decide how you want the corners of your units: square, slightly rounded or very rounded?
For most of us, the answer to that question is going to be "Who cares?"
One of the first steps in AdSense optimization is to make the borders disappear. If the border has gone, you can't see what shape the corners are in. Google could make those corners into steps, wiggles or spirals for all the effect it would have on my ad units.
But Google has added this option for a reason. Presumably some people are showing their borders and they want the corners of their ad units to match the shapes in their page design.
That's a good strategy... if you're letting your borders show. But the only time I can imagine that letting your borders show would be a good idea is if you've placed borders around your text areas too. Some designers do that.
If your text units come with borders then it could be worth placing borders around your ad units too. Of course, those borders should match the borders around the text units so that your ad areas looks as much like content areas as possible.
The rest of us though can happily choose any option for the corners we want... then make it vanish.
