Nightly News Yawn

Posted on December 1, 2004 03:35 PM by Joel Comm

I am truly puzzled by the celebrity status of the major network newscasters. I NEVER watch the major networks and can barely tell you who the anchors are, let alone what importance they have in America. From what I can tell, Dan Rather got in a heap of trouble over a story during the Election cycle. And Tom Brokaw is retiring. For some reason, people give a rip.

These people are little more than talking heads and I am amazed by both their self-importance and the creedence given them by many who tune in to hear their nightly "news".

I guess along similar lines, I am also confused by the attention given to late-night talk show hosts. Leno, Letterman, O'Brian. I can't imagine a greater waste of time than to tune in to this nightly tripe. Do that many people really tune into this expansive wasteland of mind-sucking nonsense?

People should spend their time doing something more significant, or at least entertaining. Get a Nintendo or Playstation. ;-)
