My Contact Station

Posted on April 12, 2007 12:34 AM by Joel Comm

A few days back, I told you I was working on some very significant projects. I am now prepared to reveal the first of them.

What I am about to show you will be valuable to you on several levels...

1) When you see what it is, you will immediately want to use it on your web site.

2) Others will want it as well, and I will pay you 100% commission to share it with them!

So what's the big deal?

You are going to have to see it to believe it.

It's so simple, you will wonder why someone hasn't done it before.

And it's so valuable, you will instantly know that you have got to have it for your web site!

I'm very excited about this, and I know you will be too. In fact, I expect that those who implement what I am about to show you on their own sites will not only reap the benefits of it right away, but they will also be the first to earn huge commissions by sharing it with the rest of the web!

This is a product that reaches beyond those seeking to make money online. In fact, it is for ANYONE with a web site!

Alright... enough said.

Click through the following link, read the page (it's short) and watch the 3-minute video. I know you are going to LOVE it. :-)

    Hi Joel,

Just a question about My Contact Station? Now don't get me wrong, the price is great, however,
I visited about 10 of the web sites of the people who have given testimonials and I could not find a contact link on any of them that was using My Contact Station.

I have been both a buyer of your templates and a long time subscriber to your ezine/blog notifications, and I find it somewhat puzzling that none of the avid testimonial providers are using the program.

    Your comments?

Most of these people only demoed the script on a preview page as we were finalizing the code. They still need to receive the final version, but are eager to use on their sites. A good question!

    Hey Joel,

I've been evaluating anti-spam contact forms a while now, and I just purchased 'My Contact Station Basic' from your site After er.. a bit of effort, I've finally got it working.

There are some issues around the download package for MCS Basic that I want to bring to your attention, knowing how fussy you are about being associated with the 'right stuff'.

First, the product doesn't work 'out-of-the-box' for several reasons.

    1. The 'mcs.php' file inside the mcsbasic_v1.1.zip file I downloaded was corrupted *within* the .zip package. From line 51 onward, it's just garbage, hieroglyphics. I had to d/l a copy of the Javascript Framework from the web and paste it over the corrupted text to fix it. I despair.

    2. D'oh! The principal file, config.php, assumes 'short_open_tag' is enabled in PHP, which it wasn't on my dev server (the file uses instead of ).

PHP.NET recommends (nay, decrees) that .php scripts for distribution should NOT assume short_open_tag to be the case. Of all the components, it had to be config.php! That threw all the global constants out the window right off the bat, very handy.

    3. CaptchaSecurityImages.php blindly assumes GD is available. By default, that extension is NOT enabled in PHP5.

    4. ManageAPI.php has a typo on a variable name: '$CopyT' is really '$CopyTo'. Not good.

    5. Mail.php -- a more-or-less straight lift of the OSI sendmail.php class wrapper -- has the same bug (and sloppy style) as every other copy I've seen:

    Undefined property: Mail_Class::$checkAddress

All for the want of a simple property variable declaration. Ye Gods!

Anyhoo, overlooking a plethora of other minor issues, MCS does seem to work. It's just not the most ready-for-prime-time product distribution I've seen, I have to say.

I'm fortunate to have a Windows 2000 domain here in my office, and a virtual server running Apache 2.x and PHP5. I can catch Apache/PHP errors locally in real time and fix them before they can mangle my ISP's machines. Having seen the mess my local server got into over MCS I hate to think what other - less well-equipped - MCS users are doing to their ISPs' boxes.

I just tested it live online this evening (2007-04-14 GMT) using the demo.html included in the package. The Contact and Feedback mails arrived OK.

Now I just have to get stuck into the Transitional XHTML and convert it to Strict. Yes, I'm headed that way.

I know your user licence covers the matter of messing with the code but frankly Joel, it would NOT have worked without a sound thrashing. You might want to bring this to the attention of 'yer man'.

    Jeff

I cancelled all future issues of InsstantAdsenseTemplates last month but payment was taken from my account and Series 5 was delivered.

I now find that an attempt to take a further subscription from my account has been made. Will you please make sure that I am not charged for any further issues.

I do not want any more,

I went through the normal channels last month and apparently nothing was acctioned. It also seeems that it is not made easy to cancel anything, which I find very disappointing from someone of Joel's standing.

    Best wishes
    Len Rothery

    Dear Joel,

    I need some advise/help
Can you tell why I am getting hardly any visitors to my site?
Do you have a Adsense tip that can change this?
I will read the book, but I feel you might already know what the fix should be.

    Pravin
