In a Galaxy Far, Far Away

starwarstrilogy.jpgThe most requested DVDs of all time are finally going to be hitting the retail shelves today. Faster than you can say, "Use the Force, Luke", The Star Wars Trilogy DVD set will probably break all records for DVD sales. I know that I will be contributing my $45 to George Lucas's pocketbooks as I plan on picking up my copy on my way to work today.

If you can stand to wait a few days, you'll probably find it to cost less at Amazon.com.

The four-disc set contains the first three movies (numbered Episodes 4-6) as well as a fourth disc loaded with extras. Per the listing on Amazon.com, the set includes:

  • Episode IV, A New Hope
Commentary by George Lucas, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren, and Carrie Fisher
  • Episode V, The Empire Strikes Back
Commentary by George Lucas, Irvin Kershner, Lawrence Kasdan, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren, and Carrie Fisher
  • Episode VI, Return of the Jedi
Commentary by George Lucas, Lawrence Kasdan, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren, and Carrie Fisher

  • "Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy," the most comprehensive feature-length documentary ever produced on the Star Wars saga, and never-before-seen footage from the making of all three films
  • Featurettes: The Legendary Creatures of Star Wars, The Birth of the Lightsabre, The Legacy of Star Wars
  • Teasers, trailers, TV spots, still galleries
  • Playable Xbox demo of the new Lucasarts game Star Wars Battlefront
  • The making of the Episode III videogame
  • Exclusive preview of Star Wars: Episode III

I'm sure the first opportunity we have, my family will be sitting down for a Star Wars Marathon. "Luke, I am your father..."
