Everquest? Yawnquest...

In my quest for the perfect online game, I have past by Everquest for several years now. However, I was reading a PC game magazine and saw that they were offering a 30-day free trial to the game. So I went to the site and downloaded an enormous 1.26 GB file. I installed it and signed up as Remotheus, a warrior of some sort or another, with devotion to some god of love. I figure I should be true to my real-life belief system, even though this is just role-playing.

eq_logo.gifIn the two hours or so that I have spent with the game, I am quite unimpressed. Perhaps Everquest was revolutionary four years ago, but after playing Star Wars Galaxies and City of Heroes, I fail to see the appeal to Everquest. The graphics are extremely dated. The gameplay is boring as can be. And frankly, I am finding the controls a bit frustrating.

Granted, it is an early level and I am doing little more than slaying rats, but I can imagine more terrifying beasts in their places and I am just not impressed.

Needless to say, Mary is in no danger of becoming an Everquest widow. I might dabble a bit more, but there will be no going past the free trial.

Now, where is that icon for Zuma Deluxe?
