If I had been drinking coffee or milk, it would have come out my nose when I saw this story.
Yesterday, the news reported that President Bush is the most physically fit President in history. He exercises six days/week and eats well.
In the response to this, The Democratic National Committee has issued a press release saying "Bush Should Stop Playing Games with Physical Fitness". They accuse the President of cutting funding to schools for phys-ed programs. Seriously, this is their take on the news.
1) It doesn't cost ANY money to be physically fit! Go jog. Who is stopping you? They actually think schools need more money so kids can exercise?
2) Did Republicans pick on Bill Clinton whose weight yo-yo'd like crazy while he downed Big Macs, and who subsequently needed bypass surgery? Nope.
Nuts. And just a bit hysterical. I, for one, hope these radicals keep up with their silly attacks. Ought to push a few more people into the Republican column for upcoming elections. :-)

Hi Joel!
I was doing some research on the net, when I decided to check to see what World Village has been doing these last few months since we visited. What I want to know is... how are you keeping fit while eating all the desserts you are getting? What a great idea!
Come on over to Draw And Paint School to see what I am doing. Do you think Hersheys would help pay the rent?

Republicans won by just three points a special Congressional election in Ohio for a seat that Republicans had been winning for years by as much as 44 points and that Bush carried in the presidential election of 2004 by 28 points. A key election issue was Bush's handling of Iraq.
Bush may be physically fit, but his foreign policy isn't.

Hey Joel.. good to see you.
Did you see the commercials that the Democrat ran? He talked about his service in Vietnam, attempted to align himself WITH the President and made absolutely NO mention that he is a Democrat. Essentially, he tried to pass himself off as a Republican. Some people were foolish enough to vote for him anyhow, but not enough.
It's like Limbaugh says... Democrats can't run as Democrats and win elections. It is another victorious day for our Republic. :-)

Joel,
You've got your facts all wrong. This was a Democrat named Hackett, a veteran of Iraq, not Vietnam, and he was harshly critical of President Bush's Iraq policy. You're evidently confusing this race with another one. This was a race to replace Repbulican Portman. Go read the stories and see for yourself.

In fact, Hackett, a Marine officer, called President Bush a "chickenhawk S.O.B." Now ordinarily I might call that nasty rhetoric, but since you called Sandra Day O'Connor a witch, then I'd say you shouldn't object to Hackett's language.

Joel T.. my bad on Vietnam.. I knew Iraq and I meant Iraq.
Here is his commercial.

Honestly. It gives the appearance that he is saddling up to the President. There is no harsh talk here. There is no mention that he is even a Democrat. This is by DESIGN. For the majority that don't pay attention to anything but television, this ad provided the deception that almost put Hackett over the top.
Sorry, but liberals don't win elections by being liberals. They must disguise themselves as conservatives.
Need more evidence? Watch Hillary, the ultimate liberal, continue her move to the center.
And I don't mind Hackett's rhetoric. At least for the time being, he is irrelevent. I applaud him for his service though.

Hackett's quotes during the campaign that Bush represented the greatest danger to the nation, that Bush was a "cheerleader for the enemy" with his "bring 'em on" comment and that Bush had no post-war plans for securing Iraq can hardly be seen as anything but rather harsh attacks.
Almost every news story I've read portrays Hackett, whose campaign site provides that he opposed going into Iraq in the first place, as strongly opposing not only Bush's Iraq policies but his tax cuts, his positions on social security etc. One "upbeat" ad doesn't make a campaign.

Also, Hackett aligned himself with "Democracy for America" founded by Howard Dean. Today, I received an e-mail from Hackett on DFA's behalf.

And the news is coming out about turnout. It was terrible, especially for Republicans. So Democrats had great turnout. Repubs didn't. And it's no wonder. They weren't crazy about the "moderate" that was running for office. But they bit the bullet anyhow.
You are astute and keep up with the news, Joel. Most people are not so in touch. Television influences them greatly. Deceit didn't work this time.
