Battling for my business

Recently, I have been looking to get some inexpensive web design for new sites I am developing. A friend referred me to DesignOutpost.com.

What makes this site so unique is that the client (that would be me in this case) runs a contest to have graphic design and html created. You simply post a message with the specifications for a site and offer a prize bounty for the winner. The bounty is pre-paid to designoutpost.com with the total offered plus 10% going to designoutpost.com. Over a period of time to be determined (mine was two weeks), a variety of designers vie for your business by submitting their design. The client then provides feedback, sending the designer back to the drawing board to fine-tune the product.

At the end of the contest, the client selects the winner and DesignOutpost.com releases the funds to the designer. It's a great way to get the wheels of capitalism rolling in the area of web design!

I decided to give this service a try for a new blog that I put together, featuring the latest coupons and offers from online merchants. Here is my initial post to the site. I offered a minimal bounty of $100 to see how it would go. As you scroll through the posts, you'll see how the designers interacted with me, leading up to a final selection at the end of the contest. Here is the final version, live and online!

I'm sure DesignOutpost.com needs more clients and designers, as they are not limited to site design. Their talented group also creates logos, letterhead, banners, buttons and any other form of graphic element you may need.
