An outpouring of support

Posted on October 27, 2005 10:13 PM by Joel Comm

I wanted to say "thank you" to those of you who have emailed or left comments on my blog in support of me and my family in the loss of my Aunt. I have enjoyed spending time with my family today. It is especially touching to hear my mom tell stories of her relationship with her sister. There have been a good many tears. Tomorrow we lay Joan to rest, and live will go on for the living.

I was touched today by one email in particular from a reader who will remain anonymous. She told me that as I result of my posting, she got of the courage to call an old friend who is currently dying from cancer. She says she was so glad that she did it, and now she is at peace over the inevitable loss.

Let's face it. We all have an "Aunt Joan" in our lives. Someone who has touched us and has left us. If you haven't experienced this yet, it is only a matter of time. While I appreciate the support of so many, I realize that each of us have trials and loss in our own lives. As I wrote in a newsleter to my readers earlier today, let's try to keep our focus on putting people first. Make it a priority to to say an encouraging word to someone today. Tell them you love them.

If you do, you will be like George Bailey in "It's A Wonderful Life". You will be the richest man in town.
