Part V? What happened to I-IV? Click here to read from the beginning

By the way, the Consumer Electronics Show and the E3 are total schmooze-fests. I have a blast every time I go to one of these trade shows. You get to see stuff that the general public won't see for some time. My favorite part is the free stuff handed out by exhibitors. I have gathered so many tchotkes and otherwise interesting items over the years. More on that later.

So it's early 1995 and we were destined for the web. Ken and I began the process of learning about the web. It was decided that he would put together a web server (using his own PC). It would be a Windows NT box (ick!)

We discussed ideas for the web site. We knew the site would have software reviews, but we wanted to harness the capabilities of the web and expand the vision of what the site could be. Giddy with possibility, we grabbed our notepads and began scribbling down ideas. The first thing we did was settle on the name of our company, InfoMedia.

Since the web was a virtual place, we thought it would be cool if we could develop a virtual world of sorts. We knew we wanted a graphical interface, so Ken drew this mess.

Ah... a virtual world. Software reviews. Downloads of new shareware. And what else? The brainstorming continued.

and we'll continue in Part VI...
